This is the NHS organisation that monitors and coordinates the delivery of the health services on behalf of everyone living in B&NES. The CCGs are independent statutory bodies governed by members of local GP practices with support from health professionals and direct input from people representing patients and members of the public. CCGs have taken over a range of commissioning responsibilities from primary care trusts (PCTs) and manage most of the NHS commissioning budget for England. B&NES CCG awarded a £700m contract to Virgin Care in November 2016 for the delivery of a wide range of NHS and social care services to local people.
